Advani concerned over 'leakage' of party secrets
Sunday, July 24 2005 11:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Apparently stung by the media blitz over the recent RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh)-BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) controversy, party President L K Advani yesterday (July 23, 2005) expressed concern over "leakage" of internal party matters and asked party leaders to exercise restraint in their interactions with journalists.

Addressing the meeting of party's office bearers, the first after his recent and much-publicised differences with the RSS, he wondered how purely internal matters including discussions at meetings were "leaked out" to media, party sources said.

Advani told the party leaders that only details, which required to be made public should be given out to the media, they said.

Following Advani's counsel, all the participants did not take outside the venue copies of the resolutions adopted at the meeting "lest they be reported by the media".

Party leaders also declined to speak on the proceedings of the meeting and left it to senior leader Jaswant Singh and party spokesperson Sushma Swaraj to brief the waiting journalists.
