All India Minority Front President S M Asif yesterday (July 23, 2005) vehemently opposed Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) President Ramvilas Paswan's stand on giving a chance to a Muslim leader to become Chief Minister of Bihar saying it would not augur well for the Muslim community.
"Making a Muslim leader Bihar CM is not going to help ameliorate the lot of Muslims. A person having firm determinate ion and commitment for the cause of Muslims be made CM, Asif told reporters in Patna.
Taking a pot shot at Paswan for raising the issue of Muslim CM time and against, Asif asked Paswan to explain what steps had he taken for giving employment to Muslims when he had been the Railway minister.
He favoured according the scheduled caste status to dalit Muslims.
Launching a scathing attack on the Lalu-Rabri regime for allegedly neglecting the Muslims during the past over 15 years Asif alleged that the duo had failed to take concrete and effective steps for appointment of Urdu teachers.
