British police arrest third man over London bombing Monday, July 25 2005 11:57 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
London:
Police investigating the July 21 attempted suicide bombings in London have arrested a third man under Britain's anti-terrorism laws, police said yesterday (July 24, 2005).
The man was arrested late on Saturday (July 23, 2005) in south London, close to the neighbourhood of Stockwell where two other suspects were arrested on Friday (July 22, 2005), they said.
A police spokeswoman said the man, who was not identified, was arrested on suspicion of the commission or instigation or preparation of acts of terrorism.
"He has now been taken to a central London police station for questioning," she said.
Police have released no details about how the suspect was believed to be connected to Thursday's (July 21, 2005) bomb attacks in London, when four men tried but failed to blow up three
Underground trains and a bus.
No one was injured when the bombers' devices failed to explode.
That attack came two weeks after four suicide bombers succeeded in killing 52 people on London's mass transport system, but police have said so far they have found only circumstantial links between the two incidents.
