London bombs stored in containers made in India Tuesday, July 26 2005 10:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
London:
Bombs used in last week's failed London attacks were assembled in containers manufactured in India, police said here yesterday (July 25, 2005).
The London bombers had used Tupperware-like white-lidded containers, called a Delta 6250, to build the explosive devices, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police, Peter Clarke, told reporters here.
He said the containers were made in India and sold in about 100 British outlets.
"All five of these bombs had been placed inside dark coloured rucksacks or sport bags. All of them were made using the same type of plastic food storage container.
"These were manufactured in India, and are exported through one company into this country and then sold in approximately 100 outlets across the United Kingdom," he said.
He has appealed shopkeepers if they remember selling five or more of the transparent six and a quarter litre containers, which have white lids.
"The type we are interested in is this six and a quarter liter-sized container with a white plastic lid," he said.
"It has a label describing it as a 'Delta 6250 with Lid,' and also has another coloured label with the description 'Family Containers, Delta, Superior Quality.' Please note that we are only interested in the white lid variety. They are also produced in other colors," Clarke said.
