Advani to depose in Babri demolition case t'rrow
Wednesday, July 27 2005 17:49 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) President L K Advani will depose before a special court tomorrow (July 28, 2005) in the Babri Mosque demolition case in Rai Bareli where party activists are planning to give a tumultuous welcome.

Spotlight: The Ayodhya crisis

"We are proud of the Ram temple movement and Advani would present himself before the court as per its directions. He would be welcomed by thousands of party workers", BJP Parliamentary party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters in New Delhi.

Denying that Advani had ever described the demolition of the disputed structure as the "saddest day" of his life, he said the BJP Chief had only maintained that his party had no role in the demolition.

The entire party including Advani was proud of the Ram temple movement and it would "happily accept" any punishment for the same.

The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court had recently quashed the order of Rai Bareli court that discharged Advani from the case and asked him to face trial along with others.

He was asked to appear before the court tomorrow.
