London blasts: Plastic container made in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: British police has found that the plastic container, which carried the explosives for the failed bomb attack in London on July 21, was manufactured by a plastic ware unit in Thiruvananthapuram.

Shortly after the second explosion, the London police made enquiries with the Family Plastic and Thermo ware unit, after tracing the address from the barcode, seen on the RPT label of the container, the company's Managing Director Simson Fernandes told PTI here.

Fernandes said he was first contacted by an investigating officer to confirm that the plastic jar was made here.

Following this, a fax message was sent, seeking more details about the distributors of the company's products in the UK.

Fernandes said he had given all the details sought by the London police and they were satisfied with the response. "It is just a coincidence. It is unfortunate that our jar has been used for carrying bombs," he said.

The company had been exporting its products to several countries, including United Kingdom, United States of America, South Africa and Dubai. The containers were available in many shops in London, he said.

The type of container used for packing bombs in London was of 'Delta 6250', with 6.25 litre capacity. The product carried a label 'Family Containers-Delta Superior Quality,' he said.
