New Delhi:
Voicing anguish and shock at confrontations between striking workers of a multinational company and Haryana police in Gurgaon, UPA (United Progressive Alliance) chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi today (July 27, 2005) said those responsible for the incident would be held accountable.
"A judicial inquiry has been ordered and I am sure that those responsible will be held accountable," she told a general body meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party in New Delhi.
"Let me at the outset reiterate my personal and indeed our collective anguish and shock at recent confrontations between striking workers and the police in Gurgaon that led to tragic consequences," she said addressing party lawmakers two days after the police and workers of a Honda motorcycle plant fought pitched battles in the satellite township of Gurgaon on
the outskirts of the national capital.
