Buta to review security provided to Bihar MPs Thursday, July 28 2005 18:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Governor Buta Singh today (July 28, 2005) said he would review the security provided to Bihar MPs and would issue necessary instructions to authorities for withdrawal of security guards found to be in excess of the set parameters.
"So far as I know that MPs are provided with security cover in accordance with the scale fixed by the Lok Sabha Speaker. If Bihar MPs are enjoying the privilege more than the security scale, I will issue necessary instructions to withdraw the excess security personnel to the MPs", Singh told reporters.
"It is not only in Bihar but the MPs are provided with security cover elsewhere in the country", the Governor said.
The Governor said he would look into the letter purported to have been written to the DGP by Additional Director General of Police (BMP) Manoj Nath to withdraw the security-men provided to controversial Siwan MP, Md Shahabuddin, high-profile brothers-in-law of RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) president Laloo Prasad and RJD MPs Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav and Subhash Yadav.
Referring to Monday's gruesome killing of Bihar Water Board Chairman Ashok Yadav, the Governor said the police had received vital clues but the same could not be shared with the media, as it would hamper the police investigation.
Chief Secretary G S Kang who was also present at the press meet said the police had made a major breakthrough in the case and the culprits would soon be apprehended.
