Friday, July 29 2005 19:48 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: A dance bar owner from suburban Andheri has been identified as source of the rumours of dam burst and tsunami scare last night as 17 persons were arrested for causing false alarm, police said today (July 29, 2005).

While the bar owner is likely to be arrested, six persons, including three bar girls and two eunuchs, employed in the dance bar, have been arrested on charges of spreading rumours with an intent to cause public harm in Samata Nagar slums in western Mumbai last night, police said.

Similar rumours in Nehru Nagar slums in western Mumbai led to a stampede last night killing 18 persons.
