Srinagar: After a 24-hour operation, the encounter between militants and security forces came to an end today (July 30, 2005) as a crack team shot dead the ultras holed up inside two buildings here.

"We have recovered the body of one of the slain militants from Bombay-Gujarat Hotel and efforts are on to retrieve the other body in a nearby building," Inspector General of Police Javed Makhdoomi said.
