New Delhi:
CBI today (Aug 1, 2005) conducted early morning raids at 50 places in the national capital region in connection with the alleged misappropriation of lands in the name of cooperative group housing society.
The raids were being conducted after the agency registered four cases in this connection against several people including a retired IAS officer who superannuated his office as secretary of cooperative group housing societies last year
The CBI First Information Report (FIR), filed before the designated court, alleged misappropriation of land in the name of CGHS and selling them at very high rates after construction of flats.
The CBI source said that agency came to know about large-scale irregularities in this regard and registered four cases in this connection.
According to the FIR, certain people used to form a fake executive body and claim land under CGHS scheme in which prices are one-tenth that of the market rate. On the same
piece of land, flats were constructed and later sold at exorbitant rates.
The sources said that the agency expected to unravel the builder-land mafia racket operating in the national capital soon.
