No rain due to decreased cloud coverage over Mumbai Tuesday, August 2 2005 11:35 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

With decrease in cloud coverage over Mumbai region, the residents were expected to get some respite from the week-long heavy rains and flooding even as several areas experienced less rain since last night (August 1, 2005).
The Meteorological office here today (August 2, 2005) said the cloud cover has begun to decrease but the gusty wind will continue at about 50 km per hour.
Since these will continue to be rough to very rough, the Meteorological office has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea and Signal flag No 3 has been hoisted for them, indicating the danger.
Up to 8.30 am today (August 2, 2005) the rainfall recorded in Colaba was 86.8 mm while Santa Cruz recorded 149.5 mm, it added.
The suburban rail services, which were hit badly till yesterday (August 1, 2005), were today (August 2, 2005) restored on Central, Harbour and Western Railway sections, Railway sources said.
The Harbour line trains are plying from CST to Andheri and Panvel while the Central Railway is running services up to Kalyan, Central Railways officials said, adding, the frequency of the local trains was less.
The long-distance trains to and from Mumbai, on the Central Railway, continued to remain suspended till August 6, 2005, however, the trains are running from Pune and Nasik onwards for southern and northern regions respectively, the officials said.
Meanwhile, operations at airport have improved today (August 2, 2005) after yesterday's (August 1, 2005) disruption, though the airport was shut for a brief period from 5 am to 5.45 am due to poor visibility, airport sources said.
