Second instalment for rain-battered Maharashtra

New Delhi: Under attack from various political parties, Government today (August 3, 2005) announced, in the Rajya Sabha, second instalment of Rs 500 crore for flood relief in Mumbai and 18 districts of Maharashtra, hit by unprecedented rains.

The Rs 500 crore would be in addition to the first instalment of Rs 500 crore announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said replying to a calling attention on the floods raised by senior Bharatiya Janata Party member Pramod Mahajan.
