Life in metropolis has come back to normal after a week-long heavy rains and disruption of rail and road traffic, even as low lying areas of Kurla, Kalina and Saki Naka was still under water.
Educational institutions and offices had almost full attendance and business in the city was back in full swing.
On the Central rail route (main line) the suburban train services were extended beyond Kalyan up to Karjat since early morning today (Aug 3, 2005) and the services up to Pune are expected to be restored by evening, Central Railway officials said.
While on the western railway route, the suburban trains were plying only up to Vasai Road as the services between Virar and Vasai had stopped last night owing to flooding in that area.
However, the harbor line services were normal and the trains are running as per schedule on the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) to Panvel and Andheri and Bandra, sources said.
The weather office has predicted moderate rains in the city, while moderate to rather heavy rains for suburbs accompanied by strong gusty wind.

hoisted indicating the danger.
The Brihan Mumbai Municipal workers have begun clearing the drainage and hundreds of corporation and private doctors are visiting various hutment areas and low lying areas in the city to provide medical help, BMC health officials said.
