New Delhi: Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza defeated Tathiana Garbin of Italy in the first round of the Acura Classic tournament at San Diego in the United States.

Mirza beat Garbin 6-2 6-2 to move to the second round of the tournament, according to information received in New Delhi.
