Amritsar:
Punjab police has released photographs of 11 Pakistani nationals, who had gone missing after crossing the border, to watch the first India-Pakistan Test match at Mohali in March this year.
The fans were part of a group of 2,754 Pakistanis who were granted visas to enter India through the Wagah border to watch the first five-day Test that began on March 5, 2005.
The Pakistani nationals had come to India on valid visas to witness the first test match. However, after the expiry of their visa term, they did not return to their country and went missing in India, a release issued by the state police said yesterday (august 5, 2005).
"As these missing persons were a threat to the sovereignty and security of the nation, information about their whereabouts could be given to the police immediately," it said.
Amritsar police had registered a case on March 31 against the 11 missing Pakistanis under section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
