India, B'desh to 'remain engaged' to face obstacles Monday, August 8 2005 16:37 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dhaka:
Terming the outcome of External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh's visit in Dhaka as 'satisfactory', India and Bangladesh today (Aug 8, 2005) decided to "remain engaged" to overcome any obstacles in bilateral relations.
"A beginning has been made and talks on specific sectors will be continued during the upcoming visit of three Indian ministers to Bangladesh this year," Singh told reporters at the airport wrapping up his three-day visit to Bangladesh.
"Every-time we meet we will take a step forward, however big or small it may be," Bangladesh Foreign Minister M Morshed Khan said.
"I do not think everything will be alright in a single visit, but we have to remain engaged," he said.
On the forthcoming SAARC summit in November here, Singh said he hoped it would be a landmark summit.
"We hope the 13th summit would be landmark summit," he said.
Singh, who invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to visit India, expressed the hope that she would do so before or after the summit.
Earlier, Singh also travelled to Naokhali, where he visited the Gandhi Ashram.
Khan said, "One visit to Gandhi's Ashram teaches us how one individual can make a difference."
