UK bound flight delayed following Interpol alert

Dhaka: A British Airways flight bound for London was delayed by over three hours in Dhaka today (Aug 8, 2005) following an Interpol warning that suspected terrorists might be on board, officials said.

Interpol informed the officials of the Zia international airport that suspected terrorists armed with bombs were on board, according to a private news agency BD news.

Spotlight: London bomb blasts

Airports officials confirmed to sources in Dhaka that the flight was delayed for security reasons but refused to elaborate.

Reports said three Moroccans and an equal number of Bangladesh-born British nationals were offloaded for questioning.

However, the search of the aircraft and passengers failed to find any bomb or explosives.

The three Bangladeshis offloaded were being questioned and the plane later left for London.
