Northeast militant camps exist in Bangladesh: CPI-M Tuesday, August 9 2005 10:10 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Kolkata:
The Communist Party of India (CPI) Marxist (M) yesterday (Aug 8, 2005) said that camps of the Northeast militants existed in Bangladesh from where insurgent groups were
carrying out anti-India activities, although Dhaka has denied it.
Calling for sustained discussion between New Delhi and Dhaka to stop the insurgent activity directed against India on Bangladesh soil, the CPI-M Politburo member and Secretary of the party's West Bengal unit, Anil Biswas, told reporters that the Northeast insurgents had been carrying out violent activities in the neighboring Indian states for a long time, but Dhaka had consistently denied it.
To a question on the visit of the External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh to Dhaka during which he asked Bangladesh to do more in stopping the insurgent activity from camps situated on its territory, Biswas said, ''The CPI-M has been repeatedly telling the Center to take up the issue with Dhaka".
''The problem should be resolved only through discussion between the two sides with India giving adequate proof to Bangladesh on the existence of the insurgent camps,'' Biswas said.
