Eight injured in bomb blast at Karimnagar bus depot Tuesday, August 9 2005 13:16 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Karimnagar:
At least eight persons were injured when two bombs exploded at the bus depot here today (August 9, 2005), police said.
Two bombs, kept in a tiffin box, exploded creating panic at the bus depot, police said adding, the injured, including an old woman, have been shifted to hospital where their condition is stated to be critical.
The incident must be the handiwork of naxals and the chemical used in the explosive is believed to be Trinitron Toluene, police added.
Later, speaking to reporters after visiting the site, District Superintendent of Police D S Chauhan said that the explosives were wrapped in a plastic cover and placed in a tiffin box in a Mumbai-bound bus.
Two more buses in the adjoining platforms were damaged due to the impact, he said adding, the injured includes driver of the bus.
Chauhan, however, ruled out usage of Improvised Expolisive Device (IED) for the blast and maintained that it could be only a cheap, handmade and crude bomb aimed at creating panic among the passengers.
Eyewitnesses said that there was smoke coming out from the bus when the few passengers tried to troop out of the bus, including the driver, when the explosion occurred.
