Manmohan, Sonia offer 'chadar' at Ajmer Sharief

Ajmer: 'Chadars' were today (August 10, 2005) offered, on behalf of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, at the tomb of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti on the occasion of his annual urs.

The 'chadars' were offered on behalf of Singh and Gandhi by Minister of State in Prime Minister's Officer, Prithviraj Chavan, separately.

Chavan was accompanied by former Railway Minister and Senior Congress leader C K Jaffar Sharief, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Mukul Vasnik, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief B D Kkalla and Prabha Thakar MP.

Last week, chadars on behalf of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani were presented at the shrine.
