Tytler's resignation too little, too late: BJP Thursday, August 11 2005 12:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday (Aug 10, 2005) night described Union Minister Jagdish Tytler's resignation in the wake of his indictment by the Nanavati Commission as 'too little, too late' and demanded that the Government prosecute all those named by various inquiry commissions.
"It is too little, too late. The Government must take it to its logical conclusion," Party spokesperson Sushma Swaraj told sources.
She demanded that "Prosecution of all those indicted by various commissions which has been avoided for the last 21 years, should not be delayed any further."
Swaraj asserted that BJP and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies would rise
this demand vociferously in Parliament when it comes up for discussion tomorrow.
BJP's Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi said Tytler's resignation was not enough and demanded action against all those involved in the anti-Sikh riots.
"This Government first does unconstitutional things like in Goa, Jharkhand and Bihar and then goes to correct it when under pressure. Why didn't they do it before? They go about
talking secularism. Yesterday it's proved that Congress is the most communal party," he said.
Naqwi also objected to Tytler submitting his resignation to United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and not Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"Why did he submit his resignation to the Super Prime Minister and not the Prime Minister," he said, adding a Union Minister must submit his resignation to the Prime Minister only and not the Party President.
