Chennai:
The Congress would continue its alliance with the Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam (DMK) led Democratic Progressive Alliance for next year's polls to the Tamil Nadu Assembly, TNCC President G K Vasan said today (Aug 12, 2005).
"The High Command wants the undemocratic All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Khazhagam (AIADMK) Government in Tamil Nadu voted out of power. There is no question of any change in the alliance pattern for next year's polls", Vasan, recently nominated as TNCC President for the second time, told reporters after a meeting of top ranking state party leaders in Chennai.
Stating that the party was gearing itself up for the assembly polls, he said they would remain united to achieve the goal of voting out the AIADMK Government.
Vasan said he would hold discussions with the High Command after the Parliament session, on reconstituting the party at the district level.
The party would abide by the High Command's decision on the change of DCC Presidents.
On delimitation of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies in the state, he said the Election Commission should take into consideration, the sentiments of the people, before arriving at a final decision.
