Friday, August 12 2005 16:05 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: A special court here has extended till August 16, 2005 the judicial custody of gangster Ashwin Naik in a case of murder of his wife, Neeta.

He was produced in the court of Special Judge A P Bhangale, amidst tight security yesterday (August 12, 2005).

Naik, who was arrested by Mumbai police soon after his release from Tihar jail, has sought more police protection while being taken to courts in Mumbai from Kalyan jail, where he is lodged now.

Naik, who was paralysed below waist in a murderous attack on him some years ago in Mumbai, is facing the charge of murdering Corporate wife Neeta outside her house on November 13, 2000, suspecting her to have an affair with her bodyguard.

Mumbai police has invoked stringent MCOCA in the case against Naik, who faces trial in 16 other criminal cases, including extortion and attempt to murder.
