Naxalites blast police station in Bihar killing one

Biharsharif (Bihar): Naxalites of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) blew up the Chabilapur police station in Bihar's Nalanda district in the wee hours today (August 12, 2005) killing a havaldar and wounding two others, police sources said.

Sources said around 50 extremists of the banned outfit swooped down on the police station, about 30 km from here, just past midnight and blasted the building when the policemen were asleep.

A constable and servant of the officer in-charge who were injured in the attack have been admitted to the Sadar hospital here in a serious condition.

The naxalites were also said to have looted some firearms and ammunition.

Senior district police officials have rushed to the spot.
