No question of resigning from Lok Sabha: Tytler
Friday, August 12 2005 18:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Chennai: Former Union Minister Jagdish Tytler today (Aug 12, 2005) ruled out his resignation from the Lok Sabha.

Tytler, who arrived from New Delhi to attend a private function here (Chennai), told reporters at the airport that there was no need for "resigning from the Lok Sabha."

Tytler, who quit the Manmohan Singh Ministry, following his indictment by the Nanavati Commission which went into the anti-Sikh riots after the assassination of Indira Gandhi, said Sikh brethren had elected him to the Lok Sabha and there was no question of him resigning from the Lok Sabha.

Denying that he was "compelled" to resign from the Ministry, Tytler said he did it on moral grounds. 'It is not right to continue in the ministry, when you face an enquiry.'

He said he wanted a speedy enquiry into the charges against him and truth should come out.

He said he would continue to serve the people of the country. 'I am a MP and has a constituency to be looked after,' he said.
