Saturday, August 13 2005 14:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Concerned over vacancies in some key positions in the police department, the Election Commission today (Aug 13, 2005) directed the State Government to fill them up immediately in view of the forthcoming assembly polls.

In a communication to the Chief Secretary, the EC pointed out that the posts of Police in Siwan, Patna Rural, Supaul, Sheikhpura and Jamui remained vacant.

It directed the state administration to take immediate steps to fill up the posts and sought a compliance report by August 17.

The EC had last week directed the poll officials to delete the names of all those persons against whom Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) could not be executed for more than six months.

It had asked the police department to furnish to the Chief Electoral Officer by August 19 a complete list of persons giving the full details of their residential addresses, against whom the NBWs have remained unexecuted for more than six months.
