Comm on killing of ULFA leaders submits report
Saturday, August 13 2005 16:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Guwahati: The one-man commission inquiring into the alleged secret killing of family members of ULFA (United Liberation Front of Assam) leaders, which had rocked Assam during the rule of the last AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) Government, has submitted its report to the State government.

Official sources said here (Guwahati) today (Aug 13, 2005) that Justice (Retd) J N Sarma, heading the commission, had submitted the report to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi yesterday (Aug 12, 2005).

The Chief Minister held a meeting with some of his ministerial colleagues and senior officials last night to discuss the findings of the report.

The sources, however, refused to divulge the findings of the report.

The commission was set up to inquire into the killing of family members of ULFA leaders between 1998 and 2000 allegedly by Surrendered ULFA (SULFA) activists during the AGP government's rule.

The Congress government had set up a one-man commission to inquire into the killings after it had assumed power in 2001.
