During a visit to Narsingwadi village of Shirol taluka of Kolhapur district, one of the worst affected areas, Gandhi assured that the State Government would provide all assistance to the people.
Gandhi, who was accompanied by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Marketing Minister Harshwardhan Patil, asked the former to look into the complaints of the people, who have suffered heavy losses in the recent floods.
The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson, who was earlier scheduled to visit
Takaliwadi, had cancelled her programme and came to Shirol village and interacted with the residents, who narrated their harrowing experiences to her.
