Islamabad:
Rejecting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assertions in his Independence Day speech, Pakistan today (Aug 15, 2005) said no terrorist infrastructure existed any where in the country or in territories controlled by it and described such reports as "fabricated".
"There is no infrastructure of terrorism anywhere in Pakistan or in territories under Pakistan's control. Reports of such infrastructure are fabricated and false," Pakistan's
Foreign Office spokesman Naeem Khan told reporters while replying to a question on Singh's statement.
At the same time Khan said there was no danger to peace process as leaders of the two countries were committed to take it forward.
"The two countries and the two leaders are committed to carrying forward the peace process in the interest of resolving disputes especially the longstanding dispute of
Kashmir and for a durable peace in South Asia," he said.
To another question whether India was dragging its feet to resolve Kashmir issue, here he said "no there is a commitment on the part of the both the leaders and countries to take forward the peace process. The peace process in on track and meetings are taking place regularly. I do not think that there is any danger to the peace process," he said.
Speaking from the ramparts of Red Fort in Delhi, Singh today said "I am aware that the Government of Pakistan has put some checks on the activities of terrorists from its soil.
"However, it is not possible to achieve success through half-hearted efforts. It is necessary that the entire infrastructure of terrorism is totally dismantled," he said.
