Situation arisen in higher education sector consequent to the Court order on quota for admission and fees structure in self-financing professional colleges would be discussed at an all party meeting to be held here on August 24, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said in Thiruvananthapuram today (Aug 17, 2005).
He told reporters after the cabinet meeting that said the meeting, called to discuss matters concerned with the utilization of tsunami fund, would also deliberate on the Apex Court order on self-financing institutions.
The Government would elicit views of opposition parties on the matter. The Cabinet held detailed debate on the issue.
The Center should enact a law to overcome the Supreme Court ruling, he said.
Chandy said 50 percent Government quota and Government fees for merit quota students was the Government stand on the matter.
The Centre had convened a meeting of Education Ministers of the states on August 27 to discuss the matter, he added.
