Cannot continue under Advani's leadership: Khurana
Thursday, August 18 2005 16:19 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: A month after demanding the resignation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani, senior party leader Madan Lal Khurana today (August 18, 2005) unleashed a fresh attack saying he was finding it difficult to continue under his leadership and would decide his future plans in consultation with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leadership.

"I no longer can work under the people around Advani who sit in AC rooms and influence decisions of the party President," the former Delhi Chief Minister said here without naming anybody.

Remaining evasive on whether he would quit the party, he said he was going to meet RSS leadership to consult about his future.

He alleged that due to the 'coterie' around Advani, the BJP was witnessing a decline. "For our entire life, we have nourished the party in an effort to strengthen it. I am hurt to see its downfall," Khurana said.

The former Rajasthan Governor, who quit to return to active politics in Delhi late last year, complained that mass leaders in the party were not only being sidelined but also humiliated.

Khurana had only a month ago written to Advani demanding his resignation. He had alleged that the party had deviated from its ideology and was being run like a 'private limited company.'
