Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) B Tandon will undertake a two-day visit to Bihar from August 24 to review preparedness for the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.
Tandon, who will be accompanied by the other two Election Commissioners N Gopalaswami and Navin Chawla, will interact with representatives of various political parties during their stay in Patna, an EC spokesman said today (Aug 18, 2005).
The Election Commission will also hold meetings with senior civil and police officials of the state.
Meanwhile, the Commission today ordered suspension of an Assistant Electoral Legislation Officer of Aurangabad Assembly constituency in Bihar for wrongful deletion of names from the electoral rolls, he said
The spokesman said four Election Commission teams would be going to Patna tomorrow to supervise issuance of photo identity cards and other matters relating to the forthcoming
polls.
During their four-day visit to the state, the teams, comprising two officials each, will tour various districts, he added.
