Friday, August 19 2005 14:42 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Hyderabad: A staunch Maoist sympathiser, Varavara Rao, representing the ultras at the peace talks with the Andhra Pradesh government, was arrested today (August 19,2005), police said.

Rao was considered to be a great moral supporter of the banned outfit and had been resisting earlier police attempt to arrest him, police said.

He would be produced in the court later in day.

The government, following killing of senior Congress MLA C Narsi Reddy, his son and eight others at Mahabubnagar district on the Independence Day, had re-imposed a ban on Maoist groups and was keeping a strict vigil all over the state.
