Patna: A day after the Patna High Court quashed the warrant of arrest issued against controversial Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Md Shahabuddin by Siwan District Magistrate, the state administration has faxed copies of warrants pending against the MP to all District Magistrates to ensure his arrest.

State Home Secretary, A K Biswas, told PTI that copies of non-bailable warrants (NBW) of arrest pending with the Hussainganj police station against the MP have been faxed to all District Magistrates and SPs for early execution.

Bihar Director General of Police, A R Sinha, had yesterday (August 18, 2005) said the three non-bailable arrest warrants against the fugitive MP would be executed soon.

"We are on the job and warrants of arrest against Md Shahabuddin will be executed soon," he had told reporters.

The Election Commission as also the High Court had asked the state administration to arrest all those against whom non-bailable arrest warrants were pending.

Three NBWs pending against Shahabuddin for execution by Hussainganj police station relate to recovery of illegal firearms, ammunition, unaccounted foreign currency, power theft and violation of wildlife act.

Several firearms of foreign make, ammunition with Pakistan Ordnance factory marking, foreign currency, a deer and photographs of Shahabuddin and his men posing with a hunted deer were seized during a raid on his Pratappur house on April 24, 2005.

The warrants notwithstanding, Shahabuddin was in a RJD delegation that called on the Election Commissioners recently and had addressed a function organised by RJD minority cell at Muzaffarpur.
