Govt. to celebrate 150th year of 1857 uprising Monday, August 22 2005 15:54 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Government has constituted a Group of Ministers to chalk out programmes for celebrating the 150th anniversary of the 1857 national uprising, Minister of Information and Broadcasting S Jaipal Reddy informed the Rajya Sabha today (August 22, 2005).
The GOM is comprised of Minister of Human Resource Development Arjun Singh, Home Minister Shivraj V Patil, Information and Broadcasting Minister Reddy and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, he said.
Reddy said no funds have been earmarked for the celebrations but made it clear that financial constraints will not be allowed to affect the scale of celebrations.
NCW:National Commission for Women has informed that there was no statitical data available to prove that Section 498 A of Indian Penal Code is being misused by women to harass their in-laws, Minister of State for HRD Kanti Singh said.
Girls:The Gogoi Sub-Committee has submitted its report to the Government and has recommended appointment of female teachers and female attendants, establishment of child care centres in every educational institution, providing free and compulsory education for girls upto the age of 18, Fatmi said.
