New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament, scheduled to conclude on Thursday (August 25, 2005), may be extended by another two days to enable completion of legislative business.

A proposal to this effect, moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee today (August 22, 2005), is being considered, CPI(M) leaders Basudeb Acharia and Nilotpal Basu told reporters here.

Acharia said the government was keen to get some bills like the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Bill and Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Bill, passed in the ongoing session itself.

The session was earlier scheduled to conclude on August 26, 2005 but was curtailed by a day.
