BJP decides to disrupt Parliamentary proceedings Tuesday, August 23 2005 12:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Party today (Aug 23, 2005) decided to disrupt the Question Hour in both Houses of Parliament protesting Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD ) Chief Lalu Prasad's assertion that Bihar Governor Buta Singh was his "nominee".
The assertion by a Cabinet Minister that a state Governor was his nominee is wrong, immoral and unconstitutional. We will raise the issue vociferously in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. We want the Question House to be suspended and the issue discussed", BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters after its hour-long meeting.
Malhotra said National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs have given notices for Adjournment Motion against Lalu's statement after the Lok Sabha Speaker turned down similar notices against the Governor's recommendations for transfer of a Railway official.
That the Governor should have recommended the transfer of an official against whom a vigilance inquiry is pending is highly improper", he said. NDA has demanded the Governor's immediate recall saying free and fair Assembly elections cannot be held under him due to his proximity with the RJD Chief.
