Army initiates action into oil supply scam in Leh

New Delhi: Army has initiated disciplinary action under military law against erring army officers and personnel allegedly involved in the supply of water instead of fuel in collusion with personnel of Indian Oil and transport agencies in the frontier district of Leh.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in Rajya Sabha that a Court of Inquiry had unearthed the nexus last month and initiated suitable disciplinary action against erring army officers and personnel.

He said the incident of large-scale diesel pilferage in the Ladakh area was detected on July 16, 2005 following which a first information report had been lodged with local police and seven truck drivers placed under arrest.
