67,222 criminals arrested in Bihar after Prez rule

New Delhi: As many as 67,222 criminals were arrested in Bihar till last month after imposition of President's rule in the state in March this year, Rajya Sabha was informed today(Aug 24, 2005).

As per information received from the Bihar State Government, there were 1045 cases of kidnapping, 1521 cases of murder and 525 cases of dacoity during March-July 2005, Minister of State for Home Affairs Manikrao Hodlya Gavit said in a written reply.

This was in comparison to 905 cases of kidnapping, 1,695 cases of murder and 497 cases of dacoity during the same period of 2004, he said.

While the incidents of kidnapping and dacoity have shown marginal increases, the incidents of murder have declined, he said.
