Vajpayee says Gujarat dissidence will be sorted out Thursday, August 25 2005 12:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Even as Gujarat Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) dissidents continued with their oust-Narendra Modi campaign, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee yesterday (August 24, 2005) asserted that the issue would be sorted out.
"It will be sorted out. Talks are on," Vajpayee told reporters here when asked about the dissident campaign despite party President L K Advani's lavish praise for the Chief Minister during his recent visit to Gujarat.
"Mana liya jayega (they will be persuaded). He is the Chief Minister," he said when pointed out that the dissidents were not giving up their campaign despite Advani's defence of Modi.
Asked about the rebels' renewed campaign in the capital, he said, "In Delhi, they keep coming. Problems are there every where."
On whether the question of Modi's removal does not rise at all, he said, "If you (media) raise it, it will arise."
To a question why senior party leaders like Madan Lal Khurana, whom the party had given several important responsibilities in the past, were now turning into rebels, he said, "The entire politics is going through such a phase. It too will pass."
