Lalu Prasad set to be re-elected as RJD President
Thursday, August 25 2005 14:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Patna: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President, Lalu Prasad, is set to be re-elected to the post, for the fifth time in a row, with the returning officer and former Bihar Minister, Dr Ramchandra Purve, declaring his nomination valid.

Purve said in a press statement that Lalu Prasad, the Railway Minister, was the lone candidate to have filed the nomination for the post. After scrutiny his papers were found to be in order.

Lalu had earlier during the day submitted two sets of papers for the post.

The formal announcement would be made on August 29, 2005 on the conclusion of the two-day meeting of the RJD National Executive here, he said.
