Taking serious exception to their 'very poor' performance in respect of preparation of electoral photo identity cards, the Election Commission yesterday (Aug 25, 2005) ordered transfer of district magistrates of Sheohar, Nalanda and Khagaria.
The full commission, which reviewed preparation for the Assembly elections with top Bihar officials, also ordered 'immediate' suspension of officer's in-charge of three police
stations in the state capital for concealing information regarding the non-bailable warrants pending with them for execution.
The district magistrates whose shifting has been ordered are, Rajiv Lochan (Sheohar), Ramshobhit Paswan (Nalanda) and Srinarain Murty (Khagaria), state personnel department secretary Ravi Kant told sources.
The officers in-charge placed under suspension are: P N Sahu (Sultanganj), K K Singh (Buddha Colony), K Chandra (Alamganj), he said.
Two electoral registration officers were also ordered to be placed under suspension for committing 'gross irregularities' in preparation of electoral rolls for the February Assembly polls, Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon told reporters after reviewing arrangement for the elections expected some time in October-November.
Tandon said that the EC had sought a panel of names from the state for appointment as DMs.
