Minor explosions in JDS and Congress office complex
Saturday, August 27 2005 14:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Bangalore: A minor explosion has occurred in the Janata Dal Secular (JDS) office and adjacent to the Congress office building in Bangalore.

The explosions happened almost simultaneously yesterday (Aug 26, 2005) evening but the one in the Congress office complex was reported only this morning (Aug 27, 2005) , top police officials said.

None was injured in both cases, they said, adding, the explosions appeared to be just an attempt to 'play mischief and create a scare.'

A window pane was damaged in the blast at the toilet in JDS office but no damage occured in the Congress complex as the explosive was placed just outside the cellar of the building, officials said.

"It is an act of mischief to create a scare", said M C Narayana Gowda, Joint (Crime).

"The explosion occurred yesterday evening but was reported to police today", he said.

He said only the forensic experts would be able to determine the nature of explosives.

Congress spokesman Prakash Rathod said they noticed the explosion only this morning and later reported it to police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) G B Chebbi said the explosion was of 'small intensity'.

Bomb disposal squad conducted a thorough check of the Congress building this morning. Security has been tightened at the offices of both JD(S) and Congress, the ruling coalition partners.

Bangalore Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Singh visited the Congress office this morning.
