Advani praises Modi's development work in Gujarat
Sunday, August 28 2005 15:03 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Botad (Bhavnagar, Guj): Continuing his praise for the developmental work carried out by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani today (Aug 28,2005) said the rural sector would progress under Modi's leadership.

"Under Modi's leadership, Gujarat will be able to achieve rural development in a manner in which it has not been achieved previously in India," Advani said after inaugurating Modi's ambitious 'Jyotir Gram Yojna' in Bhavnagar district, where more than 300 villages of three taluka's would get non-stop electricity for 24 hours.

Advani also praised Modi for focussing on the issues of progress instead of concentrating on political matters.

"BJP, not only in Gujarat, but also in other states has tried to convert people's energy into progress and it was never used for political ends," the BJP President told a massive gathering in Botad.

Thanking the people for attending the function in large numbers and indirectly hinting at dissidents within the state party, Modi said "We do not believe in 'Shakti Pradarshan' (show of strength) but in 'Shakti Darshan' (showing power/electricity)."

Modi said that the rural economy and that of Botad itself would improve as "Now diamond polishing units can be set up in Botad itself and people need not migrate as they would be 24 hours power."

Advani, however, refrained from making any comment on the dissidence in Gujarat BJP. He had yesterday said the 'differences' within the state unit should be solved 'amicably' within 'limits and boundaries' of the party framework.
