Chhota Rajan's man killed in encounter with police

Mumbai: A gangster owing allegiance to Chhota Rajan gang was killed in an encounter with the police at suburban Goregaon yesterday (August 27, 2005) night, police said.

On a tip-off that gangster Sunil Parte will be coming to area, the police party laid a trap and asked him to surrender, it said.

However, on seeing police, Parte opened fire which was retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, the gangster received bullet injuries.

Parte was rushed to Cooper hospital but the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, police said adding, he as wanted in several cases, including extortion.
