Lalu Prasad re-elected RJD President for fifth term

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad was today (Aug 29,2005)re-elected unopposed the President of the party for the fifth consecutive term.

His election was announced at a meeting of the party's national council by national election officer for the organisational polls and former Bihar Minister Ramchandra Purve.

Lalu was the lone candidate to have filed his nomination for the top party post on August 24, election for which is held every two years.

Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, RJD ministers in the Union Government including Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Prem Gupta and Jaiprakash Narain Yadav, state party President Abdul Bari Siddiqui and other top party leaders were present when the announcement was made.
