NDA, BJP Parliamentary Party want FM's resignation Tuesday, August 30 2005 11:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Parliamentary Party today (August 30, 2005) decided to vociferously demand Finance Minister P Chidambaram's resignation in both Houses of Parliament over the issue of assigning an Income Tax department case to his lawyer wife.
"We have decided to raise the issue vociferously in both the Houses," BJP Parliamentary Party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra told reporters after a meeting of the party's Parliamentary Party.
He said the NDA leaders endorsed the decision at a separate meeting.
Meanwhile, NDA sources said the opposition alliance was likely to disrupt the proceedings in Lok Sabha at least in the pre-lunch session while demanding Chidambaram's resignation over the issue.
The Opposition had yesterday (August 29, 2005) stalled proceedings in Rajya Sabha, leading to its adjournment on the issue.
