Nalini Chidambaram issue: CPI-M seeks clarification
Tuesday, August 30 2005 09:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) yesterday (August 29, 2005) said Finance Minister P Chidambaram's lawyer wife Nalini being assigned to handle an Income Tax department case raised several questions, which the Government should answer.

"It raises several questions. We think Government should clarify on all such questions," CPI-M leader in Rajya Sabha, Nilotpal Basu told NDTV last night (August 29, 2005).

Chidambaram had already clarified in the Rajya Sabha that he had no knowledge of the matter and if, at any point of time, the matter would have been brought to his notice, he would have ensured that the proposal (to engage) for Nalini Chidambaram was nipped in the bud and did not proceed any further.
