Sangh Parivar brainstorming session cancelled Thursday, September 1 2005 14:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
A brainstorming session of the Sangh Parivar top brass scheduled to begin from today (Sept 1, 2005) has been cancelled in the wake of the recent stand off between Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President L K Advani following his controversial remarks in Pakistan.
The three-day 'Chintan Baithak', planned ahead of Advani's Pakistan visit, was aimed at among other things sorting out differences among the Parivar members and facilitating better coordination among them.
The last such meeting was held in the capital when Non Democratic Alliance (NDA) was in power. Then Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani had advised Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders at the conclave to shed their hardline image as a trident-distributing organisation. He had urged them to highlight the positive aspects of their work.
According to sources, having given a 'roadmap' to Advani to return to the ideological path, RSS did not want to cause him any further embarrassment by subjecting him to questions from Parivar elders.
It was only after sensing the agitated mood of its Pracharaks' (Organisers) at its Surat conclave in July that the Sangh fountainhead had asked Advani to step down.
No fresh dates have been fixed for the cancelled brainstorming session, the sources said adding the RSS was closely watching how the BJP Chief was proceeding on the roadmap.
